ELA State Test - Done

MATH State Test - Done

NYSESLAT test - THIS WEEK

STAR TESTING - In 2 Weeks

SCIENCE TEST - In 2 WEEKS

As you can see, we have a lot of testing this month!  We are not done!  We have a lot to do!

  • 1st - Dance with Mr. Nunez
  • 2nd/3rd - Math Block
    • We collected homework and then did Chapter 12, Lesson 1.  The focus today was and introduction to the different units of measurement (customary and metric) and then deciding which measurement we would use for different circumstances.
    • We did the modeling mini lesson, then went over classwork, before students broke into partners to work work on problems.  We finished by checking the problems on the digital camera.  Homework tonight is Practice 12.1 from GoMath.
  • 4th - ELA
    • Johnny Tremain - Chapter "Disperse Ye Rebels!" section 3 and 4 and then a comprehension check.  We went over the different options for their American Revolution project.
  • 5th - Science Lab
    • We went to the fourth floor to practice the stations for the 4th grade science exam.  I showed students all three stations that would be on the exam.  I modeled how to go through the stations.  I then put them in groups of two to work on ONE station.  First they read the directions to their partner and their partner did the station.  After they finished, then they switched roles and did the station again.  Tomorrow we will work on a different station so they will be familiar by the end of the week for all three stations.
  • 6th - Lunch
  • 7th - Liberty Kids
    • More than 1/2 the class went to the MUSICAL celebration luncheon.  The remaining group watched a Liberty Kids episode dedicated to Benjamin Franklin (one of the people/topics they might pick for their American Revolution Report) that we are about to start.
Homework:
  1. GoMath Practice 12.1
  2. ELA Packet Page 1
  3. Reading - 30-45 minutes independently.
I am about to start testing end of the Reading Levels.  Students need to be between a 4.5 and a 5.5 to be considered on Grade Level in reading.  In Running Records that is R,S, and T.   If you have not seen your child independently reading - get on it.  This is one of the criteria that Mr. Hernandez looks at for student promotion to the next grade level.  Students who are not on level with reading could very well be asked to attend summer school.
