Wacky Wednesday

The wacky part is that our little scholars are thinking it is more important to be social right now than be studious...  NOPE!  We are on what I call the sprint to the State Tests in April.  We have to fine tune our skills and abilities to SHOW what we really know.

  • 1st/2nd - Math Block
    • First we checked our homework from last night.  We went over all the problems to make sure the students had full understanding before moving on.
    • Then the students worked on their Chapter 7 Mid-Chapter Review.  We called it a quiz because we need to see "what they know" before we move on to the rest of the chapter.
    • When students finished, they met the computer monitors and got a computer and had 20 minutes to work on Waggle Math, and 20 more minutes to work on Waggle ELA.  The company that runs WAGGLE is the same company who supplies the State Test.  It makes sense for the students to practice the Waggle questions as much as possible.  The link is on the side of the blog.  They can practice at home too!
    • Before leaving Math, we went over all the Mid-Chapter questions and looked for any misunderstandings.
  • 3rd/4th - Language Block
    • Our focus today was ReadyGen Lesson 2B.4.  Before starting, we went over last nights reading comprehension paragraph and answers.  Then we went over the focus for the day.  The focus is using illustrations and pictures to understand the text.  We are also focusing on using key ideas and details to understand the main idea.  =
    • We reviewed our vocabulary for today. Then we went over the things to remember as we started our new text.  Students were challenged to think of a reason as to why they named our new test "Communities from A to Z".   We moved to the sharing area and read the first 4 pages.  We stopped along the way to have discussions, check understanding, and make connections.
  • 5th - Lunch
  • 6th - P.E. - Mr. Hoffman is absent - Indoor Gym
  • 7th - Science
    • Finish Chapter 2 reading.  Work on Blizzard Non Fiction.
Homework:

  • Math
    • Division Practice #12
  • ELA
    • Reading Comprehension Wk9D3
    • Language - Comparative Adjectives
    • Spelling - Practice Sheet (ABC Order)
  • Science
    • Writing prompt - pick ONE
