- 1st / 2nd Periods: Literacy Block
- First we started with our word work session use Word Ladders. The students are getting much better at challenging themselves to work through the ladder and learn new words. Then we went over the learning focus for the day.
- We worked through ReadyGen Lesson 1B.16. The modeled practice was comparing and contrasting information in text. We looked at the animal cell and plant cell and compared and contrasted them in a Venn Diagram. For independent practice, the students broke into independent reading and used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast two characters in their books. During this independent time I met with a few students to conference over their reading practice. Then I met with a few students to go over the AR test for Let's Classify Organisms.
- We finished the block by working on our writing performance task. The students are at various stages of drafting, revising and editing. The goal is to have everyone done by Friday so we can type and present next week.
- 3rd/4th Periods: Math Block
- We started the class with a timed test on the 2's multiplication facts. About the half the class has passed with at least 92% accuracy. They will get to sit out the timed test on Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Next week the focus is memorizing the 3's - so those who have finished their 2's... start your 3's!
- Mrs. Avalos did the number talks and then the problem of the day. After watching the Math on the Spot video, we broke into groups and started our small group work. We were able to work through all of lesson 4.8.
- 5th - Lunch
- 6th - Science with Ms. Galan
- 7th - Finish our Coloring Contest and Class Novel "Emma on the Air!".
