Friday, March 22nd

This week has totally FLOWN by!  I can't believe how busy and productive we have been!  I know we are all ready for the weekend!

  • 1st - 3rd - Math Block
    • We had an extended Math Block today because we are playing "catch up" a bit and we had a few things to accomplish.
    • 1st, we had to do the Friday Math Quiz - Friz!  Pretty good results from most of the class and the scores will be on Teacherease in a bit.
    • Next we reviewed the homework and made sure everyone was good with what we had been learning about fractional parts of circles and degrees.
    • Then we did the FUN learning.  We moved on to lesson 11.3 which was getting out the protractors and learning how to measure an angle.  We went over lining up the vertex with the cross hairs of the protractor.  Making sure one ray of the angle is on the zero line of the protractor.  Using the other ray as our measure.  Always start counting on the zero.  Look at your angle.  IF it is less than 90, then your measure should be too.  If it is greater than 90, then your measure should be too.  We did lots of practice!  Then we moved into drawing our own angles.  WE start again with creating a vertex.  Drawing our first ray. Then we line up the cross hairs and zero angle line again... then we mark where the angle we need should be, and then we draw a ray from the vertex to that point.  Was a lot of work!  We worked through a lot of practice problems, classwork, handouts... I think we got it.  We will be doing this for a few more days so make sure if you don't get it.. to see me one on one so we can master it.
  • 4th-5th- ELA Block
    • Finishing our week looking at Poetry and Plays.. .today Mr. Nunez and Ms. Young worked through an iReady lesson on Plays.  The ELA State test is coming up very quickly - April 2nd and 3rd, so we are trying to cover as many things as possible literature wise because we just don't know what they will pick.. will it be nonfiction, will it be fiction, will it be poetry, will it be a play... the more we work with each different genre, the more at ease the kiddos will be.
  • 6th - Lunch
  • 7th - PE with Mr. Hoffman.
Homework:
  • Measure Angles with Protractors
    • One where they use the protractor to measure the angle.
    • One where they have to subtract the highest angle from the lowest angle to get the angle
    • if you have a protractor at home, practice using it
  • Reading
    • Read and respond in RRJ
  • Writing
    • A few people still have not completed literature essays!!
