Tuesday in Class 301

This week is going to be a lot of assessment due to the fact that we are finishing units in Reading, Writing, and Math.  So lots of end of unit assessments and beginning of unit assessments are upon us.

• 1st - Music with Ms. Young
• 2nd / 3rd / 4th - Extended Math Block
• We went to the library to return books and check out new books for our independent reading pleasure.  That took 20/30 minutes of period 2.
• We had an extended Math Block today because we had to play catch up from Friday when we went on the field trip.  Students used the first period to turn in Math from Monday that wasn't turned in and to complete the FRIZ test from Friday (scores are on teacherease.com already).  Then we did lesson 10.7 in GoMath about patterns in geometry.   Then students had 15/20 minutes to try the end of the unit review questions.  We spent another 10-15 minutes going over questions students had from the review.
• 4th and part of 5th students did their Chapter 10 Math Test and put the results into ThinkCentral for immediate feedback.  You can have your child sign into ThinkCentral at home and view their tests online.  The scores are on teacherease.
• 5th/7th - Reading/Writing
• The end of our reading unit means ASSESSMENT time!  We read a great text together called "Slower Than the Rest" by Cynthia Rylant.  We read it together closely stopping to ask and answer questions as we read.  We then read all four short response questions that students had to answer together to make sure they understood what they were being asked.  Students used the rest of period 5 and 7 to answer the four short response questions using the R.A.C.E. format.
