Beautiful December Day!

How lucky are we to have such amazing, beautiful weather this far into December.  Count our blessings, because before long we will enter the LONG WINTER MONTHS!

  • 1st/2nd - Math Block
    • Today we started with Number Talks.   Then we moved into a rather difficult multi-step problem for the Daily Number Review.  After working with numbers in the morning, we moved to the students working on the end of Chapter review.  They have a test tomorrow on Chapter 5 and we wanted to give them time to work on the review, ask questions, and study.
  • 3rd/4th - Literacy Block
    • After Ms. Almarante's class left, the rest of us took our Spelling Pre-Test.  The words this week are LONG O words.  Then we transitioned to the floor to read Chapter 7 of The Year of Miss Agnes.  Our focus today was how characters actions helped to understand the central message of the story.  We also focused on how stories are told using a sequence of events, either chronologically or through cause and effect.  Students worked independently on completing a graphic organizer that showed how the actions of Miss Agnes supported the central idea that Miss Agnes was a special teacher with unique teaching methods.   For writing, they worked on expanding their "situation" they created in lesson 4.  They had to expand it by listing the events that happened with that situation or toward solving it.
  • 5th - Lunch
  • 6th - Dance with Mr. Nunez
  • 7th - Arts and Crafts / Geography
    • To go along with our study of Miss Agnes, we will be adding some geography study with the study of Alaska and the Native Americans.  While some students are working on their art, others will be working on a special project!

  3. Spelling - Words 2X each paper
  4. Reading - Written Response for ReadyGen Lesson 2A.6
