Friday: October 26th

  • Breakfast in classroom - Listened to Harry Potter on Audiobook.
  • Math -
    • Performance Task "REDO" for Chapter 2.  I added scaffolding to the task so students could be more successful in attacking the challenging multi step problem with multiplication and addition.
    • Friday Quiz - FRIZ
    • We start Chapter 3, double digit multiplication!  BE READY!
  • Character Con:
    • We walked around the school and then went into the lunchroom.  I did a read aloud for 4th and 5th grade called "Room on the Broom".  Then students read independently for 30 minutes.  (Pictures to follow!)
  • Writing
    • Students worked on a pre-assessment for Nonfiction writing. They had to read for the last few nights a nonfiction text.  Today they had to write me an expository essay telling me about what they learned.  This is so important to seeing growth over the course of the 18 lessons, so I know it was a struggle today, but by next month - they will feel much more comfortable with expository writing.
  • WEEKLY READER
    • This week the main article was on Jellyfish.  Students worked close reading, cause and effect, and doing opinion writing with the OREO graphic organizer.  We will finish on Monday since we didn't quite finish today.
  • Lunch
  • PE with Mr. Hoffman.

Homework:
  • Math - Practice Multiplication Facts and review different ways to multiply
  • Reading - Reading Log 30-40 minutes of reading each day and log
