Friday, October 5th

  • Math
    • We went over all the problems from last weeks Unit 1 test to make sure we understood what we understand and what we don't.  Guided math groups this week reviewed skills from last week that were a challenge, as well as a skill or two from this week.  One group did math games to practice the skills.  My group took a weekly quiz and then played math games on the ipads.
  • Writing
    • We read another section of Strider and then kids broke into their partners.  The job today for partners was to read their partners stories with sticky notes in hand.  When something didn't make sense, write it on a sticky note and put it down.  If something needed more description of more working out, put it on a sticky note for your partner.  Once everyone had read their partners work, then they had time to discuss what they thought.  Some people didn't get to work with partners because they didn't complete their writing.
  • Reading
    • Friday is always fun because we get to do our Time for Kids activities.  We read four different articles, watched a video that supported one article, did a comprehension test, a writing prompt, and a graphic organizers for looking at photographs.  We did all of that during ONE reading block!  Students are bringing home their Time For Kids to share with a sibling, parent, or grand parent!
  • Lunch

    • This group had the most points in our math game a few weeks ago, and I finally had time to "pay up" and have a pizza lunch with my Math Stars!  Great job guys!  Keep it up!!!
  • Specials
    • The kids ended the day in PE with Mr. Hoffman!

  • Reading
    • Reading Log - Read 30 minutes each day, sticky notes for comprehension and predicting
  • Writing
